Direct ferry links between Taiwan and China are set to partially re-open during the Lunar New Year holidays, according to the Cabinet-level Mainland Affairs Council Dec. 22.

The resumption, set to take effect from Jan. 7 to Feb. 6, 2023, offers limited ferry services for residents of Kinmen and Matsu and their Chinese spouses, paving the way for a full resumption of the Mini Three Links, the MAC said. At the most there will be a once-daily ferry trip between Kinmen and Xiamen and no more than two trips per week to and from Matsu, the council added.

According to the MAC, the plan will be adjusted on a rolling basis according to actual operation and pandemic developments. Border epidemic prevention measures will be supervised to follow those by the Ministry of Health and Welfare implemented for flights, the council said. (DL-E)
